Better Late Than Never
DHS Finally Deploys Aerostat

Glenn Spencer, American Border Patrol -- May 14, 2014
In 2005, I called on the Department of Homeland Security to use the Aerostat balloon for border security. This was after a civilian instructor at Ft. Huachuca told me they could be very effective, but that the government refused to use it.
"They don't want the public to know that they know," he told me.
Now,, reports "Successful US CBP Aerostat Tests in Texas Prompt Plans for More Airships."
"The deployed aerostats proved very effective for the Border Patrol, both as a deterrent and as a means of spotting illegal activity, according to a CBP statement."
Now let me suggest that the Aerostat balloons should be coupled to the IDENTISEIS system so the operators know where to point their cameras. IDENTISEIS would also detect ultralight aircraft, which the Aerostat can't.
